BirchWeather brings the useful parts of a forecast into one quiet place: temperature, rain, wind, and a view of the next few days.
We use the Norwegian Meteorological Institute’s open Locationforecast data. Updates are cached, so opening a forecast does not send your browser or location to the weather provider. We do not ask for your precise location, create accounts, or use analytics cookies.
Use official local warnings for safety decisions. This site is a convenient forecast viewer, not an emergency warning service.
A small, open API.
The same forecast data is available as JSON. Requests require no account. Cached model data is refreshed periodically, subject to the source’s cache lifetime.
GET /api/v1/forecast/oslo.json
Replace oslo with a city ID from the cities endpoint. The forecast response preserves MET Norway’s GeoJSON format: properties.meta.updated_at identifies the model update; properties.timeseries contains UTC timestamps and metric values. Please cache responses and retain the source attribution when reusing data.
